Baltimore Ravin’

By now most of you may have seen what Minnesota Vikings punter Chris Kluwe wrote to Emmett Burns, a member of the Maryland House of Delegates. If not, click here…but not if you have faint sensibilities.

The most astounding part of this comedy isn’t even related to gay marriage itself. As Kluwe points out in paragraph 1 of his manifesto,  it takes a pant-load of delusion for a sitting legislator  to think it’s a good idea to write to one of his constituent’s employer asking that the employee be muzzled.   “Clownishly imprudent” doesn’t even begin to describe the political miscalculation of that act alone.

Isn’t that the first thing they teach you in politician school? Defend each person’s right to his opinion, thereby giving the false sense of conciliation and reason even while you’re being arrogantly dismissive of the other position?
